Life's Transiton Ministry (LTM) Leader: Cheryl Deslodge Team Members: Liz Zeller and Maurine Deen
Trinity's newest ministry! Taken from September 2015 Messenger: L ife Transition Ministry (LTM) is the brainchild of Cheryl Desloge. From her vantage point as Parish Administrator, Cheryl probably has the best view of Trinity's strengths and needs. She observed that many spouses and family members of those who died and had services here at Trinity, had returned to the fold or become more involved. She speculated that this was primarily because of the loving support the Trinity family had given them during their special time of need. Cheryl wanted to make sure it happened that way every time and analyzed the elements that went into it. She saw that making sure the funeral reception went smoothly was the first practical hands-on way to help. And that then following up individually with family members as they moved forward with life was the next step. Cheryl knew she couldn't do all this alone so she enlisted the help of Liz Zeller and Maurine Deen. Cheryl, Liz, and Fr. Paul sat in the office one day and brainstormed about what to call this new ministry. They saw that this was a way to help people make a transition in their lives - and decided to focus on the “life” part and not the “after death” part. Hence, Life Transition Ministry was born. Now that there was a name, there was also a concept that could be expanded to other life transitions. One example would be if someone was moving to, or having to move a parent to, some sort of care facility. Cheryl has started to accumulate a library of information on local care resources and make it available to parishioners.
